Protesters in Washington D.C. have added another important cause to fight for as they continue to voice the need to eliminate police brutality. However, they've decided to legally take action against the Trump Administration after violating the first and fourth amendment.
On Thursday, a lawsuit was prepared by the Washington DC Chapter Black Lives Matter, in partnership with the Americans Civil Liberties Union to fight against Trump along with his administration, Baller Alert reported. Allegedly, their lawsuit demonstrates that his administration has violated civil, and constitutional rights of their association.
Their reason of the lawsuit is a result of a peaceful protest that occurred on Monday when the U.S. Park Police, along with the National Guard on horses with projectiles and gas, forced protesters out of Lafayette Square.
Protesters were grouped up with journalists in the square to display against police violence peacefully in honor of George Floyd. Momentarily, both the BLM, and ACLU are continuously asking for a U.S. trial located at the District of Columbia.
Their lawsuit explains that one their amendments were violated as it reads, "The conspiracy targeted plaintiff's protected First Amendment activities because Defendants held animus towards plaintiff's viewpoint,"Baller Alert also reported.
Their lawsuit further explains that, "Defendants' actions to shut down the Lafayette Square demonstration is the manifestation of the very despotism against which the First Amendment was intended to protect."
