Rapper Meek Mill has been experiencing a crazy situation when he remained in probation since 2008 but at this point the Philly artist finally received a break as his probation has been uplifted Wednesday, decided by a majority of judges at the Superior Court in Philadelphia.
Eleven years ago, Mill was convicted and ended up in probation over a gun conviction, yet, he's granted a stronger chance where he will receive a fair trial. According to TMZ, Mill's next trial involves a different jurying judge, not Genece Brinkley, who many credited him for unfair treatment towards the artist in his past trial.
Joe Tacopina, Mill's lawyer, explained to TMZ that there's a lateness in justice but there's no denying justice in regards to the system or Mills for that matter. It was a big deal for Mills as he went straight to social media after hearing the good news.
"As of right now I'm not on probation and I am not a felon anymore," he mentioned, TMZ reported. Following multiple prayer emojis, Mill's added "Today was mega!!!"
The Dream Chasers rapper was very thankful to the majority of people involved with his case through additional statements. "I'd like to thank the Pennsylvania Superior Court judges for their wisdom and their transparency in reviewing my case, unanimously overturning my conviction and granting me a new trial," he said,TMZ also reported. "The past 11 years have been mentally and emotionally challenging, but I'm ecstatic that justice prevailed."The past 11 years have been mentally and emotionally challenging, but I'm ecstatic that justice prevailed."
Furthermore, Mill thanked people, even closer to him, who also helped him win the case when he added, "This positive outcome wouldn't have been possible without the support of my family, my attorneys, Jay Z, Desiree Perez, Michael Rubin, the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office and my supporters who have stood with me through the ups and downs."
This is a major win for Meek Mill as he is officially a free man.
