Melo says Goodbye To The Game

He's made a legacy in the NBA since 2003 when he debuted in the Denver Nuggets, and when on to continue to leave his mark within two decades with the Bew York Knicks and currently with the Los Angeles Lakers . However, the ten timeAll-Star feels it's time to hang up his Jersey with the Lakers.

According to New York Post, Melo announced his retirement early Monday. "Thank you," he mentioned via social media.

“I remember the days when I had nothing just a ball on the court and a dream with something more,” Anthony said. “But basketball was my outlet. My purpose was strong. My communities, the cities I represented with pride and the fans that supported me along the way," he stated.

"“I am forever grateful for those people and places because they made me, Carmelo Anthony.

“But now the time has come for me to say goodbye: to the court where I made my name, to the game that gave me purpose and pride.”

He went on to mention about the feeling of leaving an impressive 19-season attendance in the game.

"But this bittersweet goodbye to the NBA, I am excited for what the future holds for me. When people ask what I believe my legacy is, it’s not my feet on the court that comes to mind, nor the awards or praise, because my story has always been more than basketball," he stated as reported by New York Post.

He left off with a strong note to his 16- year old son Kiyan saying, "My legacy now and forever lives on through you.”

His legendary career will forever be inveecongnition.
