Essential workers continues to provide their services on a daily basis at work and it's a risk, health wise, as the coronavirus remains to spread throughout the states. However, Republican Senator Mitt Romney, of Utah, proposed a "Patriot Pay" plan, yesterday, which suggests a temporary pay raise for essential workers.

According to CNN, his plan would initiate a temporary bonus that escalates to $12 per hour for this month, June and July as salaries will mark up to a total of $1,920 per month.

The plan is laid out where it includes that a quarter of the bonus would be paid by employers. In addition, three quarters of it is provided by the federal government, as the bonus is funded by a refundable payroll tax credit, CNN also reported.

"Health care professionals, grocery store workers, food processors, and many others-the unsung patriots on the frontline of this pandemic- everyday risk their health and well-being of our country, and they deserve our unwavering support," Romney stated in a press release.
