Officers Makes Their Decision To Step Down From Their Position

With many protests that continues throughout different countries in the fight against police brutality after the murder of George Floyd, officers are refusing to wear badges as the majority of cops have decided to quit. In Minneapolis, seven officers have decided to hang up their uniforms , and hand in their badges. However, the amount of police officers who decided to quit didn't on take place in one city.

Fifty seven officers, in Buffalo New York, made their minds up to resign of their duties of the cities emergency response team, according to Baller Alert. Their reasons to step down resulted in their disagreement to "the treatment of two of their members, who were simply executing orders," John Evans, President of Buffalo Benevolent Association stated.

A police chief, in Atlanta, Georgia, has also made a decision to vacate his position due to Rayshard Brooks murder. The Atlanta Police Department issued a statement as well. "Our personal data indicates that we have had anywhere from two to six officers resign for months in 2020," the department stated.

The same option was also applied in South Florida where ten S.W.A.T. officers has sent a letter of resignation to their police chief with mentions of how they felt, "minimally equipped, under-trained and often times restrained by the politicization of our tactics to the extent of placing the safety of dogs over the safety of the team members."

Police Chief Sonia Quinones responded to the departments' claim when she stated, "they walked away from their assignment, they never talke to me in advance and let me know their concerns." Se went on to say that miscommunication was a major problem on their part which caused their decision to resign. "If we're not connecting, and we're not communicating, ten we're not resolving anything," Quinones added.

Officers have gotten extremely carried away of using force, and considering that they refuse to apply the law of "protect and serve," then they should walk away.
