WWE Hall Of Famer Rocky "Soul Man" Johnson, father of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, surprisingly passed away at 75 years old. Johnson's career began in the mid 1960s at the National Wrestling Alliance. Afterwards, he gained much more success when Johnson joined WWE in 1983 where he became the first African American wrestler to become Tag Team Champions alongside with Tony Atlas, as The Soul Patrol, when they defeated The Wild Samoans on December 10, 1983.
The pro-wrestling carer of Johnson (born Wayde Douglas Bowles) has ended eight years later but wrestling has remained with him as he decided to train his son The Rock who became a major wrestler since the Attitude Era, WWE reported.
Before hanging up his wrestling boots, Johnson faced memorable rivals in the likes of Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, Adrian Adonis, and Don Muraco. Johnson's classical achievements lead him to be inducted into the 2008 WWE Hall Of Fame, inducted by The Rock.
With a close relationship that remained between father and son, The Rock brought his dad a new house, and car as a christmas gift, TMZ reported. Johnson also published his autobiography, last year, entitled "Soulman: The Rocky Johnson Story," which his son has foreword.
