Steve Nash Hired As Brooklyn Nets Head Coach

As announced Thursday morning, Brooklyn Nets has hired Hall Of Famer Steve Nash as their new head coach. It took sometime for Nets Owners, Joe Tsai and General Manager Sean Marks to recruit Nash as their head coach. Simultaneously, the former Suns' player hasn't made a final decision prior to their offer for the past few weeks.


Before choosing Nash, the team have came across other possible candidates. In a recent statement, Marks has revealed how the team narrowed down their choice to pick their new head coach.


"After meeting with a number of highly accomplished candidates from diverse backgrounds, we knew we had a difficult decision to make," Mark stated in a news release, according to ESPN.


"In Steve we see a leader, communicator, and mentor who will garner the respect of our players. I have had the privilege to know Steve for many years. One of the great on-court leaders in our game, I have witnessed firsthand his basketball acumen and selfless approach to prioritize team success. His instincts for the game, combined with an inherent ability to communicate with and unite players towards a common goal, will prepare us to compete at the highest levels of the league," he added.

He has no coaching experience, yet, the 46 year-o,ld legend carries a leadership role along with an alternative strategies of playing the game. Although Nash stay away from coaching until the offer by Nets, he was grateful of the team selecting him.


"I am honored to have this opportunity with such a first-class organization and would like to thank Sean, Joe, and his wife, Clara, for having faith in my ability to lead this team forward,"Nash mentioned.


He always had coaching in mind. It was all just about timing on when to claim the position for him. "Coaching is something I knew I wanted to pursue when the time was right, and I am humbled to be able to work with the outstanding group of players and staff we have here in Brooklyn," he said, ESPN also reported.


"I am as excited about the prospects of the team on the court as I am about moving to Brooklyn with my family and becoming impactful members of this community."


Nash retired from dying back in 2015, and since then, he's tried out many positions within the league which includes front-office and the title of head-coaching opportunities.
